Back in Time   Sedona, Arizona

The Andromeda Galaxy, rising above Bell Rock in Sedona. Andromeda is the closest galaxy to our galaxy, the Milky Way, but it is 2.5 million light years away! It is the farthest thing you can see in the night sky; to your eyes it looks like a tiny white smudge, but I shot this with a telephoto lens. This is a composite of two photo exposures, one taken while the moon was out to light up the rocks, then a second for Adromeda after the moon had set. But no alterations to the sizes positions etc have been made to the photo; this is how it appeared through my camera! Photo © copyright by Stan Rose.
